Street Social Work with Youth in Differdingen
In Differdingen, there are two educational professionals providing outreach youth work: a qualified social worker and a qualified educator, currently in further training. Their mission is to engage with young people in their daily lives – whether on the street, in the park, or other public places – and to build a trusting relationship with them.
The target group primarily consists of young people aged 12 to 26, particularly those who are no longer attending school, are unemployed, or do not have access to traditional structures. Many of them are facing difficult life situations, shaped by social, family, financial, or health challenges.
The goal is to support these young people individually and according to their needs, at their own pace, helping them regain their self-confidence and work together to develop a perspective for their future (professionally, personally, or in the educational field). This may include re-enrollment in school, further education, training, voluntary work, or simply a compassionate conversation in a moment of uncertainty.
This work is based on voluntariness, flexibility, and confidentiality. The educational professionals facilitate access to information, guide the young people in important decisions, and support them step by step in their individual measures.
A regular presence is ensured at the Youth House Differdingen-Centre (top floor), where young people (or their family members) can come, ask questions, or make an appointment.
